Bill Teplow - Singlehanded Sailing on a West Wight Potter 19 - San Francisco to Hawaii

Hi Everyone!

He's ALMOST there!!! I got a fax four hours ago, from what I assume again is a ship named "Pearl Venus"*, saying (verbatim):

FR BILL: IS OK EXPECT TO BE IN "'HILO" ON WEDNESDAY! I LOVE YOU BILL

So now that there is such a clear date of arrival (give or take a day or two, I assume) I shed all the doubts and vacillations which have plagued me since some of you sowed the idea in my head, and I called Hawaiian Airlines and got myself a ticket to go Tuesday to meet him there. About an hour ago, I finished a big "Woman of Valour" painting due for a Jewish Ritual show in September, and I filled-in almost all my print orders, so it looks like I can take a few days off without any qualms ("She girdeth her loins with strength, and maketh strong her arms..." -- Wow!..)

And now that it's almost over, I'd like to thank you very much for your warm and steadfast support throughout this "Odyssey". It ment a lot to me! And as a way of "Thank You", here is one of Bill's most loved and quoted poems, by Emily Dickinson:

Wild Nights -- Wild Nights!
Were I with thee
Wild Nights should be
Our Luxury!

Futile -- the Winds --
To a Heart in port --
Done with the Compass --
Done with the Chart!

Rowing in Eden --
Ah, the Sea!
Might I but moor -- Tonight --
In Thee!

1861

Isn't that most beautiful?

Aloha!
Love,
Nomi
